I'd be showing you what documents you need to Apply for Aadhar card in India. A detailed guide on the same. Also what to do in situations of non-availability of the documents.All the important documents which let you apply and are accepted during Aadhar Card registration in India are listed below.

So as always, let's start from the basics.

What is an Aadhar Card:-

An Aadhar Card is the supreme identity verification document in the Indian subcontinent. It consists of a 12 digit unique verification number. It is issued by UIDAI.

The Aadhar Card isn't as old as the voters Card or the Pan Card. It's a comparatively recent addition to the identity verification documents of India, and came to light only around 2009!

What's Special:-

What's special about the Aadhar Card is that it's World's Largest Identity verification project, ever! So yeah India seems to be spending a lot on that.Also, it's India's first ever public document that uses Biometric methods to verify and store identity.

So basically your Biometric and demographic details (location), are stored in a database, that database is central to the country meaning the Aadhar details of every citizen in the country are stored in that single database.

Also what's special about the Aadhar Card for the public is that, it lets the common citizen of the country track the attendances of the govt officials! Yeah that's possible now because the attendances are tracked via their aadhar cards. You can track it here.

On other note, the common citizen were effected when over 64000 duplicate, illegal and un-authentic ration cards were removed from the Indian Ration Card scheme on the basis of Aadhar Verification.So basically, Aadhar is the most secure, most authentic, and also apparently one of the most important documents in the country right now! And that's what I'm going to show you, how to register for Aadhar Cards online and Offline in India.

How to Apply for Aadhar Card offline:-

In order to Apply for the Aadhar Card Offline, you'd need to walk into your nearest Aadhar Card registration offices.No appointment prior to that is needed, you can just walk in, present your details and enroll for the Aadhar Card.

Documents Required for Aadhar Card Application:-

Either online or Offline, the requirements of the documents is the same. You'd need:-

· A Proof of Identity. (PAN card will work.)
· A Proof of Residence (Voter's Card will work.)
· A proof of birth. (Birth Certificate will work.)

· No Photograph needed. A passport size picture is mandatory, but it's snapped right there at the Aadhar Card center for you, so they'd have a fresh photograph of you.

· Address certificate with photo issued by MP or MLA or Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar on letterhead
· Address certificate from Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority.

· Address Card having Photo issued by Department of Posts
· Caste and Domicile Certificate having Photo issued by State Govt.

Documents to Prove Relation in case you don't have the documents:-

· Passport
· PDS Card
· MNREGA Job Card
· Pension Card
· CGHS / State Government ECHS / ESIC Medical card
· Army Canteen Card
· Birth Certificate
· Any other Central / State government issued family entitlement document.

The whole process of registering for Aadhar Card either online or offline, is totally free of cost! Even the photograph is snapped without any cost to you.

Required Documents for Aadhar Cards

Do You Need to Submit Original Documents During Aadhar Card Registration:-

No you do not need to submit your original documents. Although do carry them for optional verification. Even after the verification, you will be immediately returned the original documents!

You only need to submit the XEROX copies of whatever documents you're submitting.

What's the solution if you do not have a document:-

In case you do not have the Residential document, or a Proof of Identity, (because Aadhar Card has no legal age, anyone can enroll for it, and hence kids might not have such documents), you can use your own linked-proof for them.Let's say your daughter doesn't have a Proof of identity, you need to first of all provide your proof of identity, and then prove that she's your legal daughter.

You can use a birth certificate to proof the relationship. The full list is posted above.The same logic applies to any kind of document, in case you do not have any documents, you can use the documents of your parents to prove their details, and then just prove your relationship with them.
